SEXUAL ASSAULT CENTER CLINICIAN

 
POSITION SUMMARY   
The Sexual Assault Center Clinician is responsible for providing crisis-intervention, individual and group counseling, and advocacy to victims of sexual assault/abuse and their families. This involves psychosocial assessment, person-centered treatment planning, treatment sessions, progress evaluations, and termination services with clients.  Travel is required for this position including short trips to meetings, to perform group or individual services off-site, or to attend conferences. This position is funded through the VOCA Grant, which defines specific duties.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Sexual Assault Center Clinician shall possess a minimum of a master’s degree in social work or an MA in a Counseling or related field from an accredited university. This individual shall demonstrate a thorough understanding of sexual assault/abuse issues surrounding victimization; can provide confidential, compassionate, nonjudgmental therapeutic counseling to individuals and groups; and be able to work as an advocate for victims on an individual and group basis. This individual must be able to coordinate and collaborate with a variety of different public and private service agencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Clinical Practice 
  2. Provide outpatient counseling services to adult, adolescent and child victims of sexual assault/abuse/harassment, utilizing a variety of techniques to help victims regain power and control.
  3. Provide outpatient counseling services to non-offending family members to assist in supporting the victim and offering education and emotional support services to the family unit.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to engage clients in the therapy process; assist with identifying their goals for treatment and successfully support them with obtaining their treatment goals in appropriate time frames.
  5. Demonstrate an ability to understand personal clinical strengths and weaknesses and seek assistance when needed.
  6. Adhere to all client confidentiality requirements and standards.
  7. Conduct case management and be responsible for completing accurate and timely records including assessments, screenings, treatment plans, treatment notes, bi-annual reports, and closings.
  8. When demand exists, clinicians will be providing 75 hours per month or schedule 25-30 hours per week (as determined by individual failed appointment rates) of direct counseling services.
  9. Provide at least 3 hours of clinical service weekly after 4:30 p.m., including at least one evening until 7:00 p.m.
  10. When demand exists, provide counseling in an off-site location (i.e. school or community setting) that can provide space required to hold confidential counseling sessions.
  11. Provide advocacy to victims of sexual assault and their families.
  12. Facilitate a minimum of one group annually (2 groups minimum if co-facilitating) that are effective at meeting the need, populations, and time frames of clients seeking group services.
  13. Provide information, verbal and written, to victims of sexual assault regarding reporting, prosecution, rights and compensation for themselves and their families.
  14. Provide backup crisis intervention services on an as needed basis to victims of sexual assault at hospitals.
  15. Provide court testimony on an as needed basis to accurately reflect progress, involvement, and disclosures in treatment.

  1. Non-Clinical Practice
  1. Compile and maintain statistics relative to the direct counseling services of the program.
  2. Attend supervision at least two times per month. Clinicians’ professional development and expertise in the field will be considered to determine frequency.
  3. Assist with promotion of group services being offered in the Sexual Assault Center.
  4. Participate in full and clinical staff meetings, training, and staff retreats as scheduled.
  5. Seek professional development with the approval of the Center Director. Determination of professional development is based on an individual clinician’s longevity with the agency, level of knowledge, individual specialization and current needs of the agency.
  6. Function in accordance with agency standards, policies, and procedures.
  7. Provide public presentations about VOCA funded services to local schools, community centers or other public forums that are designed to identify crime victims and provide or refer them to needed services.
  8. Other duties as assigned by the Center Director.
