Denim Day has been internationally recognized since 1999 in protest of an Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. The Italian Supreme Court has since overturned their findings, and there is no longer a “denim” defense to the charge of rape.
